Ingredients & its Benefits
Garlic
Garlic has been studied for its potential to lower cholesterol levels, particularly low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, often referred to as “bad” cholesterol. Research indicates that consuming garlic regularly may lead to a reduction in total cholesterol. The mechanism by which garlic lowers cholesterol involves its ability to inhibit the synthesis of LDL cholesterol in the liver. Allicin in garlic appears to block the production of LDL by binding to proteins on liver cells known as LDL receptors, effectively reducing its production at a cellular level. It is a natural antibiotic and also posses anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties
Moringa
In studies involving rabbits fed a high-cholesterol diet, moringa was found to significantly reduce serum cholesterol levels while increasing HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol, known as “good” cholesterol. One study demonstrated that administering moringa leaf extract resulted in a significant decrease in total cholesterol and triglycerides. The beneficial effects of moringa on cholesterol levels are attributed to its rich content of bioactive compounds, including isothiocyanates and flavonoids. These compounds have been shown to exert hypolipidemic effects, meaning they can help lower lipid levels in the blood.
Turmeric / curcumin
Studies have shown that curcumin can reduce LDL cholesterol levels by preventing its oxidation, which is a critical factor in the development of atherosclerosis (the buildup of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in and on the artery walls)
Reducing Triglycerides: In addition to lowering LDL cholesterol, turmeric has also been found to reduce triglyceride levels. A study showed that supplementation with curcumin significantly reduced triglyceride levels after just 30 days. Curcumin also reduces the absorption of the bad cholesterol in intestines.
Carduus Mari / Milk thistle
Carduus, commonly known as milk thistle, is recognized for its potential to help regulate cholesterol levels in the body. The active compound silymarin found in milk thistle is believed to play a significant role in this process. Research suggests that silymarin may help lower total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL or bad) cholesterol levels while potentially increasing high-density lipoprotein HDL or good cholesterol.
Tinospora
The beneficial effects of Tinospora on cholesterol levels are thought to stem from its active compounds, such as terpenoids and alkaloids. These compounds may influence lipid metabolism by enhancing the liver’s ability to process fats and reducing the absorption of dietary cholesterol in the intestines. Additionally, some studies have shown that Tinospora can increase high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, known as “good” cholesterol, which helps remove LDL cholesterol from the bloodstream.
